Very personable…
"The owner is very personable, friendly, and honest. I honestly think they should charge an entry fee so that people can see the museum-like interior of the store. I highly recommend them!"

"I've been into Berkeley Type writer twice so far. The first was about two years ago when I was first intrigued by typewriters. They had some really cool machines in their shop, but unfortunately at the time I was living off of a college budget and couldn't afford to buy one. The owner, Joe, was very kind and informative when it came to describing the merchandise he had out on the floor, even though he probably knew my friend and I were there just to look. The other week I inherited a typewriter from my parents' attic and the thought crossed my mind to have it repaired (the task seemed far too time consuming and intricate for me to handle). I went over to Berkeley Typewriter, had a pleasant conversation with Joe, and dropped off my new found typewriter for repairs. While I didn't stay for long to chat with Joe, I trust his professionalism and his many years of experience (30?). It's a great shop, with a long history, and good people (I've only seen Joe working the store front, so maybe person?). Anyhow, If you need anything typewriter, this is the place to go!__Update:__I got my typewriter back from them way earlier than I expected! great place, great people!__Thanks Caesar and Joe!"

Beautiful selection…
"They have a beautiful selection of reconditioned non-electric typewriters in the store. They also were able to find me the ribbon that I needed for a vintage 1970s portable typewriter I had bought elsewhere for under $15!"
